Whirldwind of Times

My graduate collection is a commentary on inner city living. I focused on the realities of daily life, the pressure of the future and false illusions of success, and how these can manifest in damage to mental health, leading to anxiety and feelings of despair. Coming from a point of acknowledgement, towards growth and change as individuals, and the impact our environment has to ourselves. Finding peace of mind, the importance of taking time and recapturing oneself. Accepting the chaos and reflecting one’s true colors and identity that might have gotten lost. This collections design elements are filled with opposions. Contrasts of dark, concrete-like colors and bold rays of light. Structured, sturdy silhouettes and playful, loose volumes and shapes complementing each other effortlessly.

Hectic arises
Fast paced daily grinds
Don’t cry
Bound by the confines of living more efficiently
How about living more tolerantly?
With more sublimity
We are just humans
Going through the human experience
In the midst of it all
