Mehtap’s collection was originally inspired by a visit to Tomas Saraceno’s exhibition in New York, “Cosmic Dance.” The artist exhibited spiders within a transparent cube and allowed them to form webs within the space, whilst music was played. The cubes were lit within a dark room, revealing the galaxy like patterns of the combined spider webs.

Mehtap created her collection around the idea of this sense of connectivity. Concentrating on the invisible bonds that exist between all of us, she has produced a number of garments representing these ideas using strings and knitted fabrics.
